Design guidelines
Add 3 mm bleed.

To allow leeway for cutting differences in production, always add a bleed of 3 mm around all edges of your design. Make sure colours, background pictures and layouts extend into the bleed area so as to avoid leaving white lines as a result of cutting tolerances.

Keep 4 mm safety margin.

Keep all important text and images at least 4 mm away from the edge of the finished size.

Use CMYK as the colour mode.

Prepare your files using CMYK as the colour mode, not RGB. Use colourmode FOGRA39 (ISO Coated v2). If you are unsure of the colour mode of your file, don't worry we can always convert this for you. Keep in mind this can cause the colours to differ from the original file.

Resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Make sure the resolution of the images and graphics in your artwork are at least 300 dpi.

Convert fonts to outlines or embed all the fonts.

Make sure you convert fonts to outlines or embed all the fonts when saving it to PDF.

Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Force Colour Images to CMYK with a 260% ink limit (in Photoshop > Convert Colour Profile > Photoshop 5 Default CMYK). Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Save your files in uneditable, print-ready file formats.

Save your files in uneditable, print-ready file formats (PDF (1.4 or higher), TIFF, EPS, JPG). Deliver your files in one layer: the background layer.

Fonts should be at least 6 pt.

Fonts should be at least 6 pt.

Use the right values for full colour black.

Use Rich Black (C:63% M:52% Y:51% K:100%) for larger areas and text to get a deep black colour. Do not use this value for text smaller than 15 pt or plain text. This can only be used in full colour printing. For designing black smaller texts use 100% black.

Check line thickness.

Lines should be at least 0.25 pt. Negative lines should be at least 0.5 pt.

Check your artwork for overprint.

Make sure no elements in your artwork are set on overprint unless you want this effect in your design. You can read more about overprint in our Help Centre.

Keep 4 mm safety margin from the fold.

Keep all important text and images at least 4 mm away from the fold.

Make sure the alignment and the sequence of the sides are recognizable.

Make sure the alignment and the sequence of the sides are recognizable (we do not check your document in terms of content).

When Using Photo's

Please be aware that when printing photos there is a tendency for images to be darker and faces to be redder than intended

Using a border/frame is not recommended

It is recommended to count with a margin of error when stacks of copies are trimmed during the production process. This slight cutting deviation is usually not noticeable, nevertheless, we recommend avoiding adding borders smaller than 20 mm in your design for any product smaller than an A4 (210 x 297 mm). Otherwise, the design might end up looking off-centre.

Provide your design for both sides in a single file.

Does your design contain multiple pages? Ensure that all pages of your design are included in the same file. Similarly, if your design requires printing on both sides, submit the designs in the same file.

What is this product? And what can I use it for?

Greeting Cards are cards that can be designed according to your wishes. Choose from various shapes, sizes and materials and create a unique product that will stand out in the minds of customers, colleagues, friends and family!

What is the fastest possible turnaround?

The fastest possible turnaround for Greeting Cards is 1 day.
Please note that for timely delivery of your order, it's crucial to submit your design file before the indicated cut-off time. This ensures smooth production and is communicated during the final steps of placing your order. The deadline is also specified in the order summary on the right-hand side.

What is the cut-off time?

The cut-off time indicates the deadline for submitting print-ready files to the printer, ensuring your production and delivery schedule is met. Cut-off times for your printed item may vary depending on the chosen combination, as it relates to the manufacturing technique and/or order quantities.

Note: If the deadline for submission has passed or if the file is rejected and corrected artwork isn't provided before the next cut-off time, the product delivery will shift by a day.

Which production techniques do we use?

For the production of Greeting Cards, we use the following technique(s):
Digital printing: Uses four colours (CMYK) with toners and inks to print digital files. This option is comparable to a large home printer, and is cheaper than Litho printing for smaller quantities. This is because there are fewer starting costs, fewer components involved, and no ink drying time required.
Offset Lithography/Litho printing: This technique uses wet ink and aluminium and rubber plates to transfer images and text onto paper sheets, resulting in sharp, vibrant, and consistent prints. While this method may require slightly more setup than digital printing, it's the most cost-effective option for larger print runs.

Which carriers are used for the delivery?

For the delivery of Greeting Cards, we use our most reliable carriers which, in most cases, are UPS or DPD.
We also use DHL and our own courier service. However, these carriers are only used for certain products (depending on the size, the turnaround and the quantity).

I can't find the product I'm looking for. Can I request a quotation?

If your material type, weight, quantity, size or other specification is not listed, you can request a quotation. We will send you an offer within 1 working day.

Depending on the complexity, this can take a bit longer.

What materials can I choose from?

Standard (300g sulfaat karton) thick and has a perfectly white colour. It is the best universal option as it is suitable for every design.
Matte (silk) 300 gsm Smooth surface which makes this a great for option for designs with text.
Recycled RecyStar® is 300 gsm and produced from recycled fibre. With a natural white color, giving a recycled look.
Kratf card is an excellent choice for a greeting card due to its rustic and eco-friendly appeal, providing a natural and charming backdrop
Pearl Marble is 300 gsm with a lovely fine glittery look and sparkles on an off-white background. This material is often used for extra special memories, messages or events.
The Metallic Materials, which are gold, silver and white, have a lovely glittery look.

Note: Please keep in mind that due to the specificity of these materials, your design may appear slightly different when printed and the material texture may show through.

Will my Greeting Cards be folded upon delivery?

Everything up to 170 grams will be delivered folded. From and above 250 gsm, your Greeting Cards will be creased, but not folded. This is done to prevent the Greeting Cards from cracking or tearing.

Will my pictures look darker once printed?

What you see on your screen is backlit by computer monitors and is made up of RBG colours. Print uses the CMYK colour space, and the physical product is light absorbing, so may appear darker than we see on our screens.

Folding

Please note, the unfolded cards do not come with a crease or fold.

Material: 300 gsm Silk

Folded card: the interior of the card is writable, as it is not laminated.
Unfolded card: for a writeable back, please select either Standard (290 gsm) or Glossy (300 gsm).
Note: It is not possible to print white colours on kraft, metallic gold, metallic silver, metallic white or pearl paper.

Option: No envelopes

The matching envelopes are made from a premium white, 100 gsm wood-free offset material. The envelopes are gummed for easy sealing.

Note: By default, the envelopes will match the size of the cards chosen.
