How many pages does a photo book have?

For your A4 Landscape Photo Book, you can select up to 196 pages. If you choose 24 pages, you'll have 24 sides to fill with pictures (12 sheets of paper). If you want to add more pages, we recommend selecting a multiple of four pages (24, 28, 32, etc.) because pages will be added per four sides. For example, if you choose to add only one page, three sides will remain blank or if you choose just two pages, two pages will be left blank. What kind of photos do you recommend I choose for my photo book?

When choosing photos for your A4 Landscape Photo Book, make sure to choose photos that are interesting and meaningful to you, and that capture important moments or events in your life. It's important to select high-quality images that are clear, well-lit, and in focus. In case the quality is too low, our editor will notify you and recommend you to replace it with a higher quality photo. It's also important to consider the overall aesthetic of your photobook. What type of files can I upload for my photobook?

Our editor accepts JPG and PNG formats for photos. PDF is not supported at this time, but if you have a PDF of your photo, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team. They will be more than happy to assist you in converting the PDF to a supported format, such as JPG or PNG.

Do I need to add anything to my photos to make my photo book print-ready?

All you need to do is upload your pictures and put them on the page you want! We already account for any potential cutting deviations by automatically adding a white border, known as bleed, around your photo within the editor. This ensures that your photos will be printed correctly, so you can relax and enjoy the process.

Will the colours in my photo book look just like the colours on my screen?

A digital photo will always look different from a printed photo because the colours are processed differently. Phone and camera photos are created in the RGB colour mode, which doesn't print well and can appear very dark. We convert RGB files to the CMYK colour mode, which is used by printers and produces a more accurate result. However, colours may not match exactly and can vary by up to 10%.

Can I make collages with multiple photos for my photo book using the editor?

Yes, it's possible to make collages with multiple photos for your photo book using the editor. You can even create collages on individual pages of your photo book.

Can I add text to my photo book?

Yes, you can add text to your photos in the editor when creating your photo book. Just click on the menu (the three dots), select "add text," type the text you want, and choose a font. The selected font will be used for printing. This makes it easy to add captions or other text to your photo book.

Is it possible to change the picture I initially chose for a different one in the editor?

Yes, you can! If you select a photo, you can easily delete it and add a new one. If you added photos but want to start again, simply go to the overview of projects, select one and click delete.

What is the fastest possible turnaround for A4 Landscape Photo Book?

Design guidelines

For preparing your file we recommend using our template.: For preparing your file we recommend using our template. This is the best way to deliver your file perfectly.
Add 3 mm bleed.: To allow leeway for cutting differences in production, always add a bleed of 3 mm around all edges of your design. Make sure colours, background pictures and layouts extend into the bleed area so as to avoid leaving white lines as a result of cutting tolerances.
Keep 4 mm safety margin.: Keep all important text and images at least 4 mm away from the edge of the finished size.
Resolution of at least 300 dpi.: Make sure the resolution of the images and graphics in your artwork are at least 300 dpi.
Use CMYK as the colour mode.: Prepare your files using CMYK as the colour mode, not RGB. Use colourmode FOGRA39 (ISO Coated v2). If you are unsure of the colour mode of your file, don't worry we can always convert this for you. Keep in mind this can cause the colours to differ from the original file.
Save your files in uneditable, print-ready file formats.: Save your files in uneditable, print-ready file formats (PDF (1.4 or higher), TIFF, EPS, JPG). Deliver your files in one layer: the background layer.
Convert fonts to outlines or embed all the fonts.: Make sure you convert fonts to outlines or embed all the fonts when saving it to PDF.
Fonts should be at least 6 pt.: Fonts should be at least 6 pt.
Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.: Force Colour Images to CMYK with a 260% ink limit (in Photoshop > Convert Colour Profile > Photoshop 5 Default CMYK). Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.
Check line thickness.: Lines should be at least 0.25 pt. Negative lines should be at least 0.5 pt.
Check your artwork for overprint.: Make sure no elements in your artwork are set on overprint unless you want this effect in your design. You can read more about overprint in our Help Centre.
Save the file for booklets as one PDF document with single pages.: Save the file for booklets not as spreads (two pages facing each other), but as PDF document with single pages, starting with the cover page (NOTE: saving as a multi-page PDF means 1 PDF file with multiple pages inside). Delete empty unnecessary pages from the file with the final save. Desired blank pages have to stay in the file.

What is this product? And what can I use it for?

A4 Landscape Photo Book are books with a hard cover and pages inside, printed with your photos. The covers are made of sturdy and durable grey cardboard that are later covered with printed photo paper. Our hardback books are available in various sizes, materials and numbers of pages! They are the ideal personal gift for friends and family.

Which production techniques do you use?

Digital printing: Uses four colours (CMYK) with toners and inks to print digital files. This option is comparable to a large home printer, and is cheaper than Litho printing for smaller quantities. This is because there are less starting costs, fewer components involved, and no ink drying time necessary.

Is the amount of pages equal to the amount of paper sheets?

No. This is because the pages are folded and printed on both sides. A sheet of paper gets folded in the middle so it covers 4 pages (2 on the front and 2 on the back). For instance, when you choose an A4 size brochure with 8 pages, we print two A3 sheets (two times as big as A4) and fold them in half, which results in a total of 8 pages.
