Design guidelines
We recommend using our templates and guides for preparing your print-ready PDF.

You can download our guides and templates in the template section. Remember to delete the template layers before exporting your design to PDF.

If you already have a design, no worries; we accept other file formats, including JPEG, PNG, or EPS.

For photographic content, high-resolution JPEGs are recommended, preferably without compression. For graphics or text-based content, we recommend print-ready, vector-based PDFs. For content that is a combination of graphics and photography, we suggest using print-ready PDFs to ensure the best quality.

Use CMYK as the colour mode.

Prepare your files using CMYK as the colour mode, not RGB. Use colourmode FOGRA39 (ISO Coated v2). If you are unsure of the colour mode of your file, don't worry we can always convert this for you. Keep in mind this can cause the colours to differ from the original file.

Resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Make sure the resolution of the images and graphics in your artwork are at least 300 dpi.

Add 3 mm bleed.

To allow leeway for cutting differences in production, always add a bleed of 3 mm around all edges of your design. Make sure colours, background pictures and layouts extend into the bleed area so as to avoid leaving white lines as a result of cutting tolerances.

Keep 4 mm safety margin and 11 mm for the wire side.

For this product we need all important text and images to be at least 11 mm away from the wire. That means you should deliver your artwork with 11 mm margin on the left for odd pages, and 11 mm margin on the right for even pages. For top, bottom and opposite side of the wire keep all important text and images at least 4 mm away from the edge of the finished size.

Text and fonts specifications (Min. font size is 6 pt)

For this product, the minimum font size is 6 pt. To avoid any issues, we recommend the following:

  • Fonts must be embedded or outlined.
  • If your design contains small black text, make sure it is 100 % black (Cyan: 0 Magenta: 0 Yellow: 0 Black: 100).

Note that we don't check spelling or typographical errors.

Check line thickness.

Lines should be at least 0.25 pt. Negative lines should be at least 0.5 pt.

Check your artwork for overprint.

Make sure no elements in your artwork are set on overprint unless you want this effect in your design. You can read more about overprint in our Help Centre.

Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Force Colour Images to CMYK with a 260% ink limit (in Photoshop > Convert Colour Profile > Photoshop 5 Default CMYK). Make sure the ink coverage isn't higher than 300%.

Frequently Asked Questions: Spiral Bound Booklets

What is this product? And what can I use it for?

A wire bound booklet is a book consisting of 10 or more pages that are bound together by a spiral on the left side. Our booklets are available in various sizes, materials and page quantities.
This product can be used:
• To introduce people to your business
• As a presentation guide
• As an information guide
• As a price list
• Bundle reports
• To represent your company's identity or brand

What is the maximum number of pages per booklet?

The maximum number of pages available is 200. As most of our orders have between 10 and 64 pages, we only show these amounts on the website. If you are interested in more than 64 pages, please contact our customer experience team for support.

Why can my booklets only be printed per 4 pages?

In short, it's to make sure that no pages fall out of the booklet. For example, when you choose an A4 size booklet with 8 pages, we print two A3 sheets (two times as big as A4) and fold them in half, which results in a total of 8 pages.

If you don't have enough content to fill four pages, here are some suggestions: Find a sponsor who would like to add advertisements in your booklet, make use of an extra introduction page or consider going the 'less is more' route and leaving 1 or more pages white.

What is the colour of the spiral?

The binding of our wire-o booklets are silver coloured. Do you want another colour for your binding? Please, request a quote

Do the Wire Bound Booklets have a transparent plastic cover?

A plastic cover is not included as a standard feature for our Wire Bound Booklets. If you would like to protect the cover and increase the lifespan of your booklet, we recommend opting for a lamination on for your cover.

What is the fastest possible turnaround?

Once you have chosen the desired options for your booklet, you will see the fastest delivery dates at the bottom of the page.

Which carriers are used for the delivery?

For the delivery of Spiral Bound Booklets, we use our most reliable carriers which, in most cases, are UPS or DPD.
We also use DHL and our own courier service. However, these carriers are only used for certain products (depending on the size, the turnaround and the quantity).
Depending on the complexity, this can take a bit longer.

How many pages can I choose for my booklet?

What Material Should I Choose?

    • Gloss Coated

The glossy finish gives the paper a subtle sheen. It's perfect for photographs as the colours show up quite vivid.

      Gloss Coated
    • Silk Coated

The matte finish is quite subtle and is perfect if your design is text-heavy.

      Silk Coated
    • Woodfree Offset

This paper is uncoated, making it ideal for writing. It's perfect if you need your customers to write down information.

Which material can I choose for the inner pages?

    • 130 gsm Silk MC

At 135 gsm, these booklets are a common choice for lightweight materials that are easy to distribute and cost-effective.

    • 170 gsm Silk MC

At 170 gsm, these booklets offer a balance between thickness and quality, making them a popular choice for professional gatherings.

      170 gsm Silk MC

What Cover Material Should I Choose?

    • Cover is the same as the inner pages

Cover is the same as the inner pages: the cover is printed on the same paper as the inside pages. The booklet then has the same thickness and look throughout.

    • 250 gsm Silk

250 gsm Silk: a thick, card-like coated cover with a silk-matt finish. Sturdy and non-bending, giving the booklet a refined, robust spine.

    • 300 gsm Silk

300 gsm Silk: a very thick, rigid coated cover with a silk-matt finish. The heaviest silk cover, for a booklet with a premium, board-like front.

Which extra finish can I choose over the cover?

    • No Finishing

No finishing: the cover is delivered without any coating or lamination. The paper keeps its natural look and can be written on straight away.

      No Finishing
    • Gloss lamination

Gloss lamination: a thin glossy film over the cover. It deepens colours, gives a shiny surface and protects the cover against moisture and wear. Great for photos.

      Gloss lamination
    • Matt lamination

Matt lamination: a thin matt film over the cover. Non-reflective and pleasant to hold, with protection against moisture and wear. Good for text-heavy or minimalist covers.
